If you’re one of the more than 25,000 people planning on attending the Atlanta Film Festival—one of the oldest and finest celebrations of celluloid in the country—we invite you to enjoy convenient and luxurious accommodations for the occasion with us here at The Whitley.

One of the illustrious Academy Award-qualifying festivals, the 42nd Annual ATLFF will present more than 200 films between April 13thand the 22nd. These are selected among thousands of submissions the festival receives from more than 120 countries all around the world.

The ATLFF has been a high-profile fixture of the Atlanta arts-and-culture scene (and the world of international moviemaking) since 1976. You won’t want to miss this year’s edition!

Overview of the 82nd Annual Atlanta Film Festival, April 13-22, 2018

Although April 13th marks the official opening of the festival, the preceding evening will see some Georgia filmmakers in the spotlight with screenings at the Plaza Theatre of Walking Distance and Spring in My Hometown, collections of documentary and narrative shorts, respectively.

The opening night film on Friday, meanwhile, is Blindspotting, directed by Carlos López Estrada; its lead actors and cowriters, Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal, will be attending the screening at the Plaza, which begins at 7 PM. The closing film of the festival, in turn, is Man Made on Sunday, April 22nd at 9 PM at the Plaza. This documentary profiles four competitors at the only transgender bodybuilding event in the world.

In between are all manner of other films—dramas, comedies, shorts, animations, etc.—as well as panel discussions, Q&As, masterclasses, afterparties, and other good stuff. Besides the Plaza Theatre, festival venues include the Hilan Theatre, Paris on Ponce, the Woodruff Arts Center, and the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, among others.

You can check out the full schedule of events, searchable by date, venue, and more, right here at the official ATLFF website.
