The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival in Piedmont Park
The frozen goodness of this year’s Atlanta Ice Cream Festival takes place on Saturday, July 28th at Piedmont Park. Lasting from 11 AM to 6 PM, it’s an all-day celebration of everyone’s all-around favorite dessert (a controversial statement, we know), with loads of flavors to enjoy on a high-summer day in Downtown Atlanta.
Slurping ice cream and perhaps mustering up the gumption to participate in the 3 PM Ice Cream Eating Competition are far from the only activities taking place during the festival. You can feel less guilty about your treat consumption thanks to the wealth of health and wellness offerings, including yoga, Tai-Chi, Zumba, and other exercise sessions, jump-roping and line dancing, plus a free health screening booth for blood-pressure, cholesterol, and other checks. In that spirit, too, the Ice Cream Festival kicks off with the 3rd annual Fight Cancer 5K Walk in the morning: Registration’s at 9 AM and the all-ages walk itself begins at 10.
Another awesome feature of the 2018 Atlanta Ice Cream Festival is the cooking demos going down in the Innovation Pavilion courtesy of the youthful kitchen wizards enrolled in the Young Chef Institute. You’ll marvel at the culinary finesse these talented kids exhibit, and you’ll likely come away with some topnotch recipe ideas, too.
And speaking of food, the Atlanta Ice Cream Festival offers more than just frozen dessert: You’ll find a variety of other menu items on offer.
