This fantastic weekend bash raises funds for the Grant Park Conservancy, the non-profit dedicated to the restoration and maintenance of Atlanta’s most venerable city park. The 2018 Grant Park Summer Shade Festival
This year’s Grant Park Summer Shade Festival takes place Saturday, August 25th from 10 AM to 10 PM and Sunday, August 26th from 11 AM to 7:30 PM.
The proceedings include the Run for the Park 5K, open to runners, walkers, and strollers of all abilities and benefiting the Grant Park Conservancy; participants enjoy the beautiful historic neighborhood of Grant Park surrounding the greenspace along the route. Then there’s the Artist Market featuring better than 200 artists and craftspeople showing off and selling their wares, and the Spider Jump, interactive craft activities, and other delights of the Kids Zone.
The Summer Shade Festival also comes well-endowed in the entertainment department with live music spread across a couple of stages; you can keep an eye on the 2018 lineup, which as of this writing hasn’t been released, right here.
Naturally appetites will be raring to go during the festivities, and there’ll be a feast (literally) of food vendors on hand to answer to them—everything from corn dogs, pizza, and ice cream to Indian and Mexican fare.
Whether you’re flying solo or bringing the whole family along, whether you come for one or another day’s festivities or take in the whole weekend’s worth, the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is a fantastic way to pay tribute to the season while enjoying (and supporting) one of America’s great public parks.
