Visitors Guide to 4th of July in Atlanta, GA

If you’re looking for the perfect place to mark America’s 242nd birthday, look no further than Atlanta, Georgia—and, of course, The Whitley! Our Luxury Collection hotel in Buckhead sets you up with a prime location to experience the many 4th of July celebrations going on throughout Greater Atlanta.

Come join us for the patriotic bash, and consider some of the following Independence Day festivities—only a sampling, mind you, of what’s on the area’s holiday calendar.

Georgia World Congress Center Authority Fireworks

Normally the Georgia World Congress Center Authority’s fireworks show in Atlanta—the biggest in the Southeast—goes down at Centennial Olympic Park, which the GWCCA manages. Due to the renovations ongoing at the park, this year’s spectacle is taking place at International Plaza around the GWCA building, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Philips Arena. Gates open at 6 PM, live entertainment starts an hour later, and the supersize fireworks launch at 9:45 PM.

Stone Mountain

One of Georgia’s best-known tourist attractions, Stone Mountain’s going full-bore for Independence Day with seven full days of its Fantastic Fourth Celebration from July 1st to July 7th. Each evening will feature the park’s one-of-a-kind, drone-enhanced laser show lighting up the sky in front of the monolithic face of Stone Mountain, and then a grand round of fireworks.

Star-Spangled Spectacular at Kennesaw State University

On June 30th, head over to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on the Kennesaw State University campus just a half-hour or so from The Whitley for the 11th Annual Star-Spangled Spectacular. This popular event begins at 5 PM with the Family Fun Festival (face-painting, balloon artists, games, and more), then presents patriotic tunes courtesy of the KSU Big Band and KSU Summer Orchestra at 8 PM capped off with awesome fireworks.

Mall of Georgia’s “Star Spangled Fourth”

The 16th annual edition of Mall of Georgia’s family-friendly “Star Spangled Fourth” kicks off at 3 PM on Independence Day, delighting attendees with loads of rides and food concessions—plus free concerts by the Throwback Experience (5 PM) and the Mike Veal Band (7:30 PM). At 9:30 PM, a performance of the National Anthem will segue into the largest fireworks extravaganza in Gwinnett County, followed by a screening of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
