One of the biggest and best state fairs in the country is about to descend upon the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the State Fair of Texas, a 24-day extravaganza with a little something for everybody.

The Crescent Hotel, Fort Worth will provide ideal accommodations for the fair, one of the signature annual events in this big, vibrant metroplex and an absolute must-do experience. The 2023 State Fair of Texas

The State Fair of Texas runs this year from September 29th through October 22nd, and it’s absolutely mindboggling how much comes packed into that fall window.

Not too many state fairs have a comparable “greeter” as the Dallas event, presided over by the iconic, ever-friendly 55-foot-tall cowboy “Big Tex.” He’s worth the price of admission all on his own!

State Fair Attractions

Attractions of both the tried-and-true and new varieties will anchor the State Fair of Texas experience this year. Marvel at 10 lifesize dinos—all of whose fossils have been found in the Lone Star State—over at Dinosaurs at the Lagoon. Take in some buckin’-bronco (etc.) action at the State Fair of Texas Rodeo and Mexican Rodeo Fiesta in the Fair Park Coliseum.

Get wet at the interactive water-balloon showdown of Acrobuffs, and prepare to have your mind blown by the contortionist archery of Sarah Twister and the classic strongman feats of the Mighty Mike Show.

Then there are the famous Pig Races, the hand-crafted marionettes of ¡Fiestas de Marionetas!, the All-Star Stunt Dog Show, the Ram 1500 TRX Thrill Ride, the World of Magic, and the Mundo Latino Día de Los Muertos Day of the Dead experience.

Fraternize with everything from sheep and goats to zebras and emus at the Oncor Petting Zoo and experience the everyday miracles of the Livestock Birthing Barn.

There’ll also be some thrilling football action over at the Cotton Bowl courtesy of the State Fair Classic (September 30th) and the Allstate Red River Showdown (October 7th).
