Perhaps the all-around defining feature of the Fort Worth Cultural District is its lineup of museums: one of the most impressive concentrations of such institutions anywhere in the country.

Those museums include not one, not two, but three globe-spanning houses of art: the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the Kimbell Art Museum, all host to fabulous permanent collections as well as always-stimulating temporary exhibitions.

Then there’s the singular focus of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame, which celebrates pioneering women of the American West as well as trailblazers in any number of fields throughout history. The National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, for example, honors everyone from Sacagawea and Annie Oakley to Georgia O’Keeffe and Sandra Day O’Connor.

Young and old alike delight in the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History, which covers an amazing spectrum of thematic territory and includes a fantastic array of hands-on and otherwise interactive exhibits. Inspire the imaginations of the next generation in the facility’s Fort Worth Children’s Museum and Current Science Studio, delve into the epic prehistoric past in DinoLabs and DinoDig, and venture through the Solar System and beyond via the Noble Planetarium.

There’s much else to explore and experience in the Fort Worth Cultural District. Here you’ll find the sprawling equestrian and event complex of the Will Rogers Memorial Center, for example. And one of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex’s standout theaters resides here: Casa Mañana, which traces its ultimate roots back to the 1936 Texas Centennial Celebration, though the current building was constructed some two decades later. Upcoming shows here include A Man of No Importance: A New Musical (August 4th through August 6th), Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons (September 9th through September 17th), and Vintage Pop! With Carole J. Bufford (September 21st through September 30th).

There are other high-profile Fort Worth destinations right on the doorstep of the Cultural District, too, including Trinity Park, the Fort Worth Botanical Garden, and the Japanese Garden.
